Creating a Rural Community Gym with Rural Fitness Ardglass
At Fitness Equipment NI, we’re proud to support gyms of all sizes – from boutique training studios to large commercial facilities. One of our favourite projects to date has been working with Rural Fitness Ardglass, a fantastic community-focused training hub on the County Down coast.
What started as a small fitness space has now grown into a fully equipped gym hall, designed and installed by our team to meet the needs of the local community.
From Vision to 3D Design
When the team at Rural Fitness first approached us, they wanted to bring quality training equipment to Ardglass – giving local people access to the kind of facilities normally only found in city gyms.
We began by creating a 3D gym design, helping them visualise how the equipment would fit and flow within their available space. This stage was key, as it ensured the layout maximised functionality, safety, and user experience.
The First Phase – Small but Mighty
The initial project involved fitting out a single room with a carefully selected range of cardio and strength equipment. This included a combination of Flow Fitness and VirtuFit cardio machines, paired with Pulse Fitness strength equipment to give members a balanced training environment.
Even in that smaller space, the community quickly embraced the new facility, proving there was real demand for a gym in Ardglass.
Expansion to a Full Gym Hall
With membership growing and demand for more training variety, Rural Fitness made the decision to expand. Working closely with our team again, we extended the equipment layout into a full gym hall set-up, transforming the building into a complete training space.
This new phase included:
- Elite Flow Fitness and VirtuFit cardio machines for running, cycling, rowing, and cross training
- Pulse Fitness commercial strength machines for durability and performance
- A functional training area designed for group classes and free weight training
A Truly Inspiring Training Space
The end result is a community gym that rivals any commercial facility – but with the welcoming, supportive atmosphere that makes Rural Fitness Ardglass unique.
By combining the latest equipment with clever design, we’ve helped create a space where local people can train, connect, and thrive.
